YOGA (with dancers in mind)
This class uses yoga postures, breathing, visualizations, and other yogic tools to stretch and strengthen the body for steadiness and ease in dance and all other physical engagements; to expand the breath for lightness and clarity of body and mind; to enhance the practitioner’s sensitivity to gross and subtle body awareness; and to center the mind in Presence. The intention is not only to prepare the body for dancing (or whatever other activities you’re engaged in) but to weave the friendly, kind, and loving pristine awareness into all our engagements. May our whole life be the most precious,, graceful, and faithful Dance.

dustin maxwell (500hr ERYT, AYS) is a dancer, maker, performer, death doula, yoga practitioner, yoga guide, and Ayurveda Yoga Specialist with 30 years of experience in dance and 13 years teaching yoga. His yoga classes are supported by his teachers in the Himalayan Tradition, Srividya, Kashmir Shaivism, Yoga, Tantra, Vedanta, as well as his own devoted practice of yoga, dance, and other somatic modalities. He believes that the Truth the yogic texts point to is inherent in the body and that by diving deeply into the body with heightened awareness, humility, and reverence those Truths are revealed to the practitioner. Therefore, his yoga classes use movement, stillness, breath, visualization, deep listening, and mediation to facilitate the proper conditions for Self-realization through gradual and patient opening rather than force or aggression. He knows that he is also a student of yoga who is responsible for holding sacred and safer space for other students to reveal the Innermost Self.
