Maple Street Dance Space is a unique set of studios where INDEPENDENT instructors, and creatives of all kinds rent space to share, rehearse, or even perform their various dance and movement forms or practices. We are located at 3215 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, just off of Wellesley Drive, on the North side of Central, right next to Urban Outfitters, and across from Kelly’s.
There are two entrances to Maple Street Dance Space: the Front Door Studio, which faces Central, and is accessed by the front door, and the Back Door Studio, which is accessed through the back door, around the building, on the North side, off the alley from Wellesley Drive and small parking lot. Parking is FREE along the side streets, and in the small lot behind our building.
With rental rates ranging from $20 - $50/hour, depending upon use and time of day, our studios are ideal for classes, rehearsals, private lessons, workshops, or meetings. Space is also available on Saturday evenings as a casual and intimate venue for small performances & other special events. Contact Romy Keegan to find out more about renting the space.
Both studios have approximately the same amount of actual dance floor, with the back studio being just a little larger and boasting a higher ceiling: Front Door Studio: 24 x 48 sq ft; Back Door Studio: 25 x 50, sq ft. Both studios have sound systems with AUX cords for devices, or CD players for good old CD’s. If you have a new iPhone, you’ll need to bring your own adapter for the aux cord. Both studios also have curtains that can be utilized to create more privacy. Although they do not cut down on sound, they do send a clear and helpful message that the space is in use, and cuts down on loud entrances and walk-throughs.
There is a shared space between studios, located in the Back Door Studio, where a dressing room and a bathroom can be found, and, there are waiting areas with benches, plants and cubbies, in both studios, near entrances and exits. Bottled water is available for $1 requested donation in both studios - although 2019 is the year we get water dispensers, and ditch the plastic bottles! Keep an eye out for new dispensers, coming soon!
We encourage students and teachers to enter and exit through the studio in which their class, or event, is held, in order to cut down on cross-through traffic and potential interruption/disruption of events, in session. If this cannot be avoided, please be as kind and respectful to the people occupying the space as you possibly can be, by saying hello, and walking quickly and quietly AROUND the edges of the dance floor! Think: Golden Rule.
In order to protect the longevity of our dance floors PLEASE advise all of students to bring a second pair of clean soled shoes to change into, once inside the studio.
